Michael Kilbourne Appointed in Kane County

Michael Kilbourne was sworn in April 5, 2021, to complete the term of David Rickert who resigned in January. Kilbourne joins the Kane County Treasurer’s Office after 6 years as the Carpentersville Chief of Police and more than 31 years with the department.


Becky Springer Appointed in DeKalb County

Becky Springer was sworn in as DeKalb County Treasurer on February 5, 2021, succeeding long-time treasurer Christine Johnson.  Pictured, from left: Curt Newport (Boone County), Becky Springer (DeKalb County), Christine Johnson (retired DeKalb County), Kevin Kunkel (Putnam County)


Kim Mitchell Appointed in Morgan County

Kim Mitchell was appointed Morgan County Treasurer on August 10, 2020.  She succeeds Jenny Geirnaeirt who died tragically on June 12th.  Her appointment follows a 16 year career with a national food service brokerage company.  Kim is married with four children and two grandchildren, and was a personal friend of Jenny.  She will be on the ballot in the November election, running for the two year unexpired term.







In Memoriam

Jeff Murrie

Saline County Treasurer

Jeff served as Saline County Treasurer since 2016.  In his home county, he was a precinct committeeman, an active member of the Harrisburg Lions Club, and served many roles at the First General Baptist Church in Harrisburg.  Jeff died suddenly on August 22, 2020.  He will be missed by his fellow treasurers around the state.






Jenny Geirnaeirt

Morgan County Treasurer

Jenny served as Morgan County Treasurer since 2015.  Prior to that she was a Jacksonville alderman and worked for State Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer as his Legislative Director.  She served ICTA as Secretary and Treasurer and chaired our Legislative Committee.  She was awarded the Zone 2 Treasurer of the Year Award in 2019.  Jenny died tragically on June 12, 2020.  Illinois treasurers lost a tireless advocate, a dedicated servant and a dear friend.

Highlights from the 2019 IACO Fall Conference in Peoria

Conference Chairman and Fulton County Treasurer Staci Mayall (left) reluctantly wore a Cardinals jersey after losing a bet with Madison County Treasurer Chris Slusser (right).  Chris gave an outstanding presentation on the Fred Bathon tax sale fraud story.



Mike Heller from Veribanc (left) spoke about bank failures and his company's bank rating service.  Kristen Saranteas (right) from First Midwest Bank spoke about common bank fraud schemes and how to protect ourselves.
